Had dinner at 310 in Santa Monica last night. All in all a very nice experience. However, I thought a couple of details really bothered me. First, when the server came to the table to say hi and asked if we would we like a cocktail, I asked does the bartender make any speciality drinks? Her reply was, this bartender "sucks" so I would order easy drinks. This shocked me considering the type of restaurant this is. The only other issue was my sister, who ate with us, and really does watch what she eats. She told our server that she wanted only grilled salmon, no butter or oil and the vegetables steamed. The server acknowledged the "special" order by saying, would you like the vegetables (artichoke and brussel sprouts) together steamed or separated? My sister said it really didn't matter as long as they were steamed with no butter or oil along with the salmon. Well, as the plate arrived, the brussel sprouts were on a separate plate, just steamed. The salmon and artichokes together on the plate, had either butter or oil. The runner who brought the food said he personally asked the chef if the plate had no butter or oil and the reply was no. Sis, was a good sport and kind of picked at the food trying to leave the "sauce" on the plate. She didn't want to wait for a whole new plate, as we were going to be finished before her new plate would have arrived. We did enjoy the restaurant, though. The food was great, the atmosphere lovely, and I really enjoyed the live music. I think they just need to pay a little attention to some details.
