Ive recently been exploring some Grand Street area Chinese over lunch, bouncing back and forth between menu items and the two- or three-over-rice deals that many on the street offer.
Today I went to 213 Grand Street Gourmet for the first time. I was drawn in by the pre-made items in the front window, which appeared to be fresh and of high quality. A sharp contrast to my last 3-over-rice meal at OK 218, which, reminding me of my favorite line from Pulp Fiction, was pretty f---- far from OK.
I was in the mood for noodles and ordered the Lo Mein with ginger, scallion and beef. The noodles were superb must have been fresh, and were cooked to order, perfectly al dente. All other ingredients were top-notch (tender and flavorful beef, sauce that was neither too thick nor too thin).
The pork hanging in the window looked really good. As did everything I saw being served.
Based on this one experience, Ill definitely be back. Id love to hear any other thoughts on this place.
