As one of those who expressed some (reluctant) misgivings about 2 Amys when it first opened, I feel obliged to report that it appears to be much improved. I've had several very good take-out pizzas recently, and last night had a great meal at the restaurant. We occupied a nine-top at peak hour, with two kids and out-of-towners, etc. Service was *extremely* efficient and gracious (and patient), and looking around the room, that appeared to be the standard throughout. When 2 Amys first opened, service was friendly but extremely frustrating (read: a bit green, scattered and noninformative); I think they've worked out those kinks.
More importantly, it seems as if the pizza is being cooked a minute or so longer, and therefore the crust is not suffering from the flabbiness and doughiness that characterized too many of those early, undercooked pies. It's still not as "crackly" as the Paradiso pie, but then, I don't think that's what Peter P. is after at this location. As always, the toppings and other ingredients were flawless. The Norcia (the one with the salami -- can anyone identify what salami that is?) and the austere marinara were especially sublime.
Oh, and don't forget the almond cake and cannoli -- they disappeared *very* quickly at our table.
