I visited a new restaurant on 51 Langley in Newton, which specializes in soup-based and stir-fried noodles, and some Chinese BBQ as well. Pleasant service. Pictures of the dishes or on the wall, and so, it's easy to see what to get. You order food at the counter, sit down and someone brings the food out to your table. There is a set of 4 counter seats that look into the kitchen, and so, you can see the cooks frying and stirring like mad. My 3 year-old enjoyed that! And, the food:
* Hokkien Noodle: not authentic, but a good lo-mein noodle. Not sure why they threw in green peas.
* BBQ pork and rice: very good char siu. Not too sweet, tender meat and the right touch of caramelization
* Roast duck and rice: above average
* Fishball noodle soup: I noticed that they used fresh noodles to cook with, and this had some good fish balls and fish cake pieces
So, nothing like Singapore or HK, but a passable option out here in the 'burbs of Newton.
