The 50/50 Burger: Half Beef, Half Bacon

Slater’s 50/50 is a build-your-own burger restaurant à la The Counter. The core of the Slater’s experience is the 50/50 patty: half ground beef and half ground bacon. “That’s right, a true bacon burger that lets you test the theory that there is no such thing as too much bacon!” says janetms383. The burger is faintly smoky and well-seasoned, and comes with a nicely crispy crust. The bun, sadly, is a little dry.

You can assemble the burger of your choice, but Slater’s also has prebuilt custom burgers, like the Thanksgiving burger: a turkey patty topped with stuffing, gravy, cranberry, and sage mayonnaise.

The biggest winner, says janetms383, is the pure beef patty, topped with bacon, peanut butter, and jelly. It sounds strange, but it works.

Slater’s has excellent fried sides, too: french fries, sweet fries with pumpkin sauce, pickle chips, and artichokes. Best of all are the onion straws, which are thin, extremely crispy, and have great onion flavor, says janetms383.
