So This Is Applesauce

“Oh, so this is applesauce,” said Spoony Bard upon tasting
Solana Gold Organic Gravenstein Apple Sauce for the first time. It’s delightful to find a varietal applesauce without sweetener in an ordinary supermarket, and this stuff is amazing. Made from heirloom-variety apples grown from old, established trees, it has incredible flavor. It’s tart, sweet, and rich, with a winey, floral aroma. It tastes like the perfect baked apple, but without anything added. “They must have mashed the apples whole,” says Spoony Bard, as the nicely contrasting texture of apple skin seems discernible. It’s smooth, rather than chunky (as some prefer), but it makes up for this with pure deliciousness.
